Nature Up-Close

This workshop was created in response to Karen McCoy’s experiential piece, Sound and Sight Walks, both part of Kansas City’s Open Spaces, a nine week cultural festival and public art exhibit. During the Nature Up-Close workshop, hosted at Lakeside Nature Center in Swope Park, participants took a short walk looking at the details of the natural world through a paper Seeing Cone and collecting small natural inspirations. Back in the classroom students created mixed media collages to represent the natural wonders they had discovered on their walk.
